Quilt Exhibit By The Tree City Quilters' Guild
We are excited to announce our 2026 quilt exhibit will once again be quilts from Tree City Quilters' Guild.
Wooster's premier quilting organization, The Tree City Quilters Guild has approximately 70 very active members ranging from the beginner to the very experienced.
Throughout the year, the Guild holds monthly meetings, conducts many workshops where we focus on a specific quilt or quilting technique, an annual picnic and a Christmas pot-luck dinner.
Every odd numbered year, the Guild hosts a weekend retreat where we bring in two well known teachers to provide instructions on how to create a retreat quilt.
The Guild is also actively involved in the community by donating quilts to local hospitals, local service organizations like NAMI, Salvation Army, Every Woman's, House, etc. and dog beds, made from scraps saved from quilt making, to the County Dog Shelter.
Within the Guild there is a small sub-group of members who focus on hand work only. They meet monthly as well, but no machines are allowed.
This year's exhibit will display approximately the same number of quilts as last year (93) and hand-made items (quantity unknown) made by these amazing members during this past year in a manner such as was done last year but with no specific categories. Show attendees are provided a ballot on which they are asked to simply vote for their 5 to 10 favorite quilts / items.
Additionally, the Guild will have a small Boutique where member-made items will be available for attendees to take home for a small donation and an amazing Judy Neiamyer designed Quilt will be available for raffle.
As if that is not enough, this group also partners with the Wayne County Fair Board and the County Veterans' Organization in awarding hand-made quilts made by Tree City Quilters' Guild members as well as other quilters throughout the area to Wayne County Veterans. Veterans receive these quilts in an annual event known as HOPS which is an acronym for Honoring Our Patriots' Service. Three years ago, at the first annual HOPS Ceremony, 54 Veterans were awarded a quilt. At the second ceremony, 89 Veterans were awarded a quilt. Last year, HOPS awarded our target 100 quilts to Wayne County Veterans. Many of the quilts made for this year's ceremony (which we hope to be 100 again) will also be displayed during the show.
