Shedding Light on Machine Reverse Applique: Summer Sun

Come out of the dark and into the light with Trace, Snip, Iron & Stitch the Eye of the Beholder way. Come learn this easy four- step method taught by Margaret Willingham as you make the shining Summer Sun block (10” x 10”) from our newest quilt, Solstice & Equinox.

Our method makes it simple to stitch by machine and so, sew simple to get graceful curves and crisp inside and outside points. Join the fun and let Margaret share with you how.

SUPPLY LIST-Required

Batiks are required. Pre- wash all fabrics. (Fabric colors identified are what we chose and help you to understand where your color choices will be used in the block. You may select any colors you would like.)

1 – 11 ½” x 11 ½” sq. dark batik, top fabric (red/orange)

1 – 11 ½” x 11 ½” sq. light background fabric (yellow)

1 – 10” x 10” Flexi- Fuse or other paper - backed iron- on fusible

• (1) pair of small, sharp scissors (Kai sharp- tipped scissors recommended)

• (4 - 5) straight pins

• Light box (to trace design onto wrong side of Flexi- Fuse)

• Mechanical pencil for tracing pattern onto paper side of Flexi- Fuse or paper- backed fusible

• Threads to match top fabric for stitching.
