Sashiko and Boro (IN)

Sashiko and Boro are different styles of Japanese Needlework. This class will show examples both traditional and contemporary designs. This is a Handwork Class This class requires a kit that will have all the supplies needed to make 3 pieces, Traditional Sashiko, Contemporary Sashiko and Boro Stitching You will only need to bring general hand stitching items such as small sharp scissors, thimble, or any other hand sewing item that you like to use.

The Supplies for this class will be provided in your kit. I will bring everything with me!!!

Thread will be provided in your kit. However, you may bring an assortment of threads with you if you have lots at home or have a brand preference.

I recommend: Perle Cotton thread, sizes 8wt, assorted colors

Please bring with you:

-Small Very Sharp Pointy Scissors

-Thimble, we will be doing hand stitching and you will appreciate having a thimble. If you don’t have one, or have never used one before, I use leather “Thimble Pads” and I think they are fantastic. They are small leather dots that have adhesive to stick them on your finger right where the needle would poke you.

-Needle Threader, if you use one.
