About the event
In this hands on course, learn how to thoughtfully design and construct therapeutic fidget quilts that offer soothing sensory stimulation for individuals with Alzheimer's, Dementia, Autism, or other sensory processing needs. With an emphasis on both creativity and purpose, this course covers: -Choosing materials with purpose -Safely attaching fidget elements (zipper, buttons, ribbons, etc) -Lay out planning for functionality and therapeutic benefit -Basic sewing and quilting techniques specifically relating to fidget quilts By the end of the course, you will have a completed fidget quilt. While learning new skills, you can help bring comfort, dignity, and joy to someone in need. You will also leave with the confidence to create more fidget quilts and continue to help others.
Kit Fee- $20 *kit fee has been added to your ticket price below. Students will "make their own kit" from available materials in the class.
SUPPLIES NEEDED
-(10) 5" squares of fabric
-hand sewing needles with a large eye
-safety pins, straight pins or Wonder Clips
Sewing Machines will be generously provided for students by Chestnut Ridge Sewing
