Onlaid & Reverse Applique

Learn both Onlaid & Reverse Appliqué that will give you the basics for any appliqué project. We will be doing inner & outer points, smooth concave & convex curves, straight lines & when if ever to clip. The spray starch method for simple shapes will also be cover as time permits.

3 Hour Appliqué Basic Class Supply List

Fabrics: Background: Solid or tone on tone: 3 pcs. 7 ½” square

Pretty florals or prints ) 3 pcs.: cut 5½” square (can be a theme fabric that has a 4 ½”area to be fussy cut)

Supplies and Tools:

-Paper scissors  &  Small Sharp pointed fabric scissors ( I like 3 ½” size)

-Fine line mechanical pencil Size 7 (makes a light fine line)

-Appliqué or sharps needles in size 10-11 or 12 Be sure you are able to thread it. (12 is the smallest)  John James or Dritz work well

-9-10 small brass safety pins & a few ¾” straight (appliqué) pins

-Sharpie Ultra FinePermanent Marker

-2 pc.s 5” square freezer paper & one 7 ½” square

-100% cotton 50 weight threads: Same color as or one shade darker to match your background & each print. *** If print is multicolored, you can use a gray or lavender. Lay a piece of thread on your fabric to see if it blends.

-Optional but helpful: Stiletto or sewing awl - Thread Magic

-A positive attitude. This will be fun!
