Lecture: Enduring Elements: 200+ Years of Quilt Blocks & Motifs (VT)

In this lecture, we’ll trace the journey of quilt blocks, quilt motifs, and other quilty elements over the past two (plus) centuries—from their earliest appearances in domestic and decorative contexts to their modern reinterpretations. We’ll look at how stars, log cabins, florals, fauna, squares, and triangles have shown up again and again—sometimes transformed, sometimes remarkably unchanged. Along the way, we’ll explore how these motifs have transcended cultural and geographical boundaries. It’s a celebration of continuity—and the creative spark that moves through time, always looking for a willing maker.
