About the event

Join renowned portrait quilt artist, Jack Edson for an introduction to fabric portrait. No experience necessary!

Learn the basic technique of translating a printed portrait into a fabric creation.  We will cover the use of a grid to break down small areas of a face and demonstrate two methods of using printed color fabric to depict a portrait.

Students will all work on the same image, a portrait of the artist, Velasquez, which provides many opportunities for teaching the techniques. Then you can take the techniques you've learned home to make your own portrait quilts!

*This class can be taken as a stand-alone class, or you can continue these skills in the afternoon Intermediate class to build on this project.

No Kit Fee

Supplies needed:

Basic sewing tools, rotary cutter and mat, needle, thread, scissors, a variety of small pieces of various color fabrics.  Students are encouraged to bring extra small pieces of color fabric to share.

Sewing Machines will be generously provided for students by A Quilter's Garden
