About the event

The historic art of traditional hand hooked rugs has been admired since colonial times. Like many forms of art, hooked rugs were made out of necessity, utilizing scraps and upcycling. By pulling up one loop at a time you can create a beautiful 6” by 6” heirloom textile. This class is for the beginner. The cost of the kit is $50.00 which contains a pattern drawn on linen, a hook, wool binding to finish off the back and hand dyed cut wool strips to make your hand hooked mug rug. (Kit fee has been added to your ticket price below).

In the class we will learn two styles of rug hooking. The center of the flower is traditional rug hooking and the outer rim is proddy style, which gives the rug a three-D texture. Sunflower colors may vary slightly depending on the availability of wool.

SUPPLIES: Please bring a 7" embroidery or quilting hoop, embroidery scissors, and fabric scissors

This is a full-day class. Students will have a 1-hour break in the middle of the day for lunch. You may bring lunch with you or purchase lunch on-site.
